In 2006, Digital Opportunity Trust teamed up with Cisco Systems to bring the TeachUp! program to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. Through Cisco’s 21st Century Schools Program – part of the company’s $40 million, three-year commitment to aid in post Katrina rebuilding – schools are able to secure equipment and infrastructure to introduce technology into the classroom.

In addition, DOT has partnered with local universities to aid in the recruitment and training of interns for the schools. For the 2007/08 school year, TeachUp! interns will be placed in 55 schools in nine school districts across Louisiana and Mississippi.
