Lebanese Ambassador to Canada Hosts DOT and Local Lebanese Business Leaders
In recognition of the contribution that DOT is making to the people and
communities of Lebanon, His Excellency Mr. Massoud Maalouf, Ambassador of
Lebanon to Canada, hosted a luncheon at his residence to introduce local
Lebanese business leaders to DOT on April 7.
The food was wonderful and
the conversation was warm and witty. It provided an excellent background for
Janet Longmore, Grant Thomas and Board member David Nostbakken to describe DOT's
continued commitment to Lebanon.
"There is no such thing as a free
lunch" exhorted Ambassador Maalouf. The conversation focused on ways that the
Lebanese diaspora in Canada can be mobilized to support worthy initiatives such
as DOT. The invitees from business, university and government were outspoken in
their respect for what DOT was doing and the potential to mobilize support from
within the Lebanese Canadian business community.
It was decided that the
Canadian Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry would take the lead in
liaising with DOT and the initial concept is to create a joint Chamber-DOT
investment fund to support DOT's programming and interaction between the youth
and communities of the two countries.
