Kenya Society for the Blind joins DOT Kenya family

by Emily Marks last modified 2008-10-31 15:55

In October 2008, Kenya Society for the Blind (KSB) became a DOT Kenya community partner. 18 young people, including 6 who are visually impaired, have enrolled in the pioneer class at the society’s offices at Barclay House, off Langata Road.

To ensure that all the participants engage fully in the ReachUp! class sessions and benefit from the programme, DOT Kenya and KSB have converted the participant manual to Braille. In addition, the JAWS software is available on the computers and the DOT Kenya interns facilitating the class, Alex Makokha and Elizabeth Muthui, have been trained to use the software.

KSB is now one of the 3 DOT Kenya community partners who primarily focus on people with special needs.
