Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Adrian Gitau and I am one of the 20 interns DOT Kenya has engaged to deliver the Reach Up! programme to our community partners.  I am a bachelor of Arts degree holder in Economics and Sociology and currently working towards becoming a certified public accountant. I heard about the internship programme from the DOT Ethiopia ReachUp! program director when he came to speak with the students at the University of Nairobi. I applied and after the series of interviews, I qualified to be a DOT Kenya intern.

The intern programme has helped me to live my dream of inspiring and empowering the young generation.  During my placement at Don Bosco, I met a young man, Geoffrey Mwangi whom I am now coaching to establish a youth empowerment programme in his  ocation. He would like to help the college graduates in his location to seize the opportunities available in their area after they complete their college studies.  He is also interested in starting a computer training college and I have  also been helping him with that as well.

As you can see, the beneficiaries have dreams and the Reach Up! curriculum that we teach helps them to master their skills, strengths, passions and interests and marry them with the community’s needs and assets, in order to make those dreams a reality.

The programme is exciting and very fulfilling and I have also discovered my strengths and honed my leadership skills. I am looking forward to the rest of my internship.
