Introducing eBoards

Communicating With Parents Just Got Easier (October 2007)

An eBoard is an online bulletin board for digital sticky notes. It can be used to post information in the form of text, hyperlinks, images, and other file types. Additionally, an eBoard can also be used to create a rudimentary online discussion forum. Hopefully by now, you are wondering:

What Can I Do With an eBoard?

The first way to use an eBoard is to be a producer, i.e. to post information for other people to read and respond to. Things that you might want to post for your students could include:
  • homework
  • test dates
  • project descriptions
  • class or grade level events
  • student resources

Information that you could post for parents might include:

  • examples of student work
  • Partent Teacher Conference dates.

The audience for your posts does not have to be limited to parents or students; just remember that the information that you post on the Web is public.

The other way to use an eBoard is to be a consumer of information; you can read and respond to posts that other people have made. Also before you try reading or creating posts on an eBoard, you will need to know the answer to this question:

Where are the eBoards?
