Sega Silicon Valley (SSV)

Sega Silicon Valley is a community partner with DOT Kenya in the ReachUp! programme in Nyanza Province. At present , 14 community participants are enrolled in the ReachUp! programme at the centre.

Sega Silicon Valley was established in November 2007 by SIMBA FRIENDS FOUNDATION in conjunction with the POLISH AID and the Information Technology Kenya. In addition to SSV there are five other centers found in different institutions each having twenty computers. These include:
  • Sega Township Secondary and Primary Schools
  • Sega Girls Secondary and Primary Schools.
  • Sega Polytechnic 

The chief objectives of SSV are to:
    1. Improve the technological know how of people in Sega and the neighboring villages and for all people in Kenya as a             whole.    
    2. To bridge the gap between Sega village and the developed towns and countries.
    3. Making Sega a digital village.

Therefore, as a result of the above objectives, SSV has the following plans to achieve its objectives
1. Providing 20 computers to six institutions.
2. Offering computer classes.
3. Creating a computer learning center.
4. Installing Fiber optic cables.
5. Creating Websites in the institutions.
6. Introducing Internet
7. Offering training on internet technology
8. Establishing a call center.
9. Making SSV a business incubator
10. Creating outsourcing links with Poland.
11. Introducing e-Voting program.
12. Introduction of environmental program i.e. tree nursery &tree planting.
