Christine Kananu
I salute you all. My name is Christine Kananu and I am privileged to be a DOT Kenya Intern. I am a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Bsc degree holder in Food science and Nutrition.Having heard about DOT Kenya and what they intend to do for the community, I submitted my application as an intern where went through a series of interviews and qualified.
As DOT Kenya interns, we were first introduced to online study where we learned a lot about DOT and the roles of an intern. We then went to the second phase where we learned a lot on self identification, coaching and facilitation skills and discovered the different strengths and skills we have. I am using the skills I learned as an intern in assisting the youth to come up with projects that can offer them a livelihood.
Through this training I have learned that the youth have a lot of potential, and if they are empowered as DOT is doing, they can improve our economy. This was evidenced by the large numbers of youths who turned up for the training at One Stop Youth Centre and the impressive projects they came up with such as making yoghurt to sell in order to earn an income.
Thank you DOT Kenya and I pray that the vision you have of empowering youths and the country at large will never die. I look forward to successfully completing my internship with DOT Kenya and working with any other organisation that is geared towards community development in order to accomplish my goal in life.
LONG LIVE DOT!
