4th Grade Powerpoint Presentations

by Jazzalyn Walker — last modified 2007-10-10 15:36

Name of technology used: MS PowerPoint

Name of Intern: Jazzalyn Walker

School name and location:  Rawls Springs Attendance Center, Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Grade level and subject where technology was applied: Grade 4, English class

Describe the success story:
The Fourth Graders had to complete PowerPoint Presentations as part of their lesson. They wrote their stories and we started to put these wonderful stories into PowerPoint. The goal of this project was for them to learn and understand their reading and language arts assignment as well as PowerPoint. The first step we took to complete this project was to have the students write a story.  The teacher then checked the story for any mistakes.  The students and I then used PowerPoint to create a slide show.

What (skills, knowledge or attitude) did you as an Intern learn from this experience?

I learned to be more patient because it seemed as if majority of the kids had never used a computer before, so I had to sit there and watch them type with one finger and look around for the letters.

How did this activity/project benefit the teachers, students and the school?
Everything about the project worked well because the kids became more familiar with PowerPoint and now they should be able to go in a complete a PowerPoint by themselves. This was a real TeachUp!project that turned out great.
