Imagine a world in which technology allows people from all over the globe, living in the most isolated and poor communities, to work together, share and gain knowledge, rebuild communities and find solutions to every day life challenges. Imagine less poverty, more independence, freedom to dream and economic opportunities for all.

The DOT Vision

"To eradicate poverty, vulnerability and gender inequality by giving all people the skills and knowledge to use technology to achieve educational, social and economic opportunities."

The DOT Mission

"To create global networks of talented, energetic young leaders who make real change by educating local communities to apply technology effectively to real life."

About DOT

Digital Opportunity Trust is a leading international social enterprise with its headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. DOT focuses on creating educational, economic, and entrepreneurial opportunity through the effective use of ICT for communities and people in countries and regions that are developing, in transition, or under stress. DOT has a particular focus on youth and women. DOT's unique programs transform young people to become leaders of change in their communities. DOT is operating programs through a network of local offices in Canada, China, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, Tanzania, Mexico and the United States.

Launched in 2002, DOT has mobilized more than 3,000 young ICT Interns who have trained and coached more than 600,000 people in communities and schools around the world in 21st century skills, the use of technology and entrepreneurship.

DOT adheres to a fundamental principle of localization. In each of its locations, DOT establishes a local organization, staffed by local professionals, recruiting local young interns, developing local partnerships and guided by a business plan to achieve longer-term sustainability.

DOT's global partners include the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Cisco Systems, IBM, The MasterCard Foundation and USAID. In the USA, DOT is grateful for the support it receives from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, AmeriCorps and many local organizations in Mississippi and Louisiana.
